Philippine Points of view On Gap Year Travel

February 9th, 2009 Posted in About Gap Year

In the Philippine Education system, universities and colleges admit students regardless of whether the students have undergone a gap year travel or volunteer travel. They finishes their college degree at an nearly age. In fact, as early as 19 years old; the country only has 6 six years in elementary grade level and 4 years in high school. Another 4 years will be spent for to get a Bachelor’s degree.

Students are expected to directly hop to college life after the high school graduation. Gap year is a foreign thing in the minds of the students. As a matter of fact, when these students go to school a year or two after their high school graduation they felt that they were left behind already. Thinking that while their peers already almost at the end of the college race; they saw themselves as being left behind. So, as much as possible students should immediately start their college life as soon as they can.

However, students taking gap year travel from Europe and USA find themselves in the midst of the Filipino population. One because travel to the Philippines is much cheaper compared to other countries.

Gap year backpackers found the Bataan Island a refreshing new place to tour. The culture here is quiet amazing. It is a beautifully carved place with a culture so untouched by human greed instead it boasts of honesty and industry. Tourist found it amusing to visit the famous self-service store. It is a store which has no sales person so tourist who drops by here just put their payments in a small box designated for that purpose. So you can make your own hot coffee as the weather is colder compared to other Philippine cities. A list of prices is pasted somewhere on the wall.

Other tourist spot in the island are: Dambana ng Kagitingan, Sto. Domingo Abucay Church, World War II Markers, Sibul Spring, Dinalupihan Natural Parks, Mt. Natib, and Balon Anito.

A gap year travel means a firsthand experience of first class sightseeing on the gap year destination.
