Tradition dates back centuries when ancient Hebrews takes a whole year rest every seven years. Truly they did it as an agricultural practice allowed to leave the land without working for replenishment (fallow) after 6 consecutive years of harvest. Nowadays people don’t take this rest for agricultural reasons but to disconnect from routine and take a breath. As well as you are a teacher looking to acquire new knowledge so you can teach better or you are a doctor wanting to cooperate in a far place, sure you will enjoy your gap year projects and learn a lot.

Actually if you are a grown-up your expectations are quite different from high school students. Adults look for professional improvement, travel around the world or give a twist to their lives.

Thinking about travel during that time many people choose to make their dreams trip but in this case you shouldn’t forget to hire a good gap year travel insurance that cover any unexpected event as illnesses, lost or stolen documents or early returns for any reason.

Make sure that if you go trough the Internet you could find many information to plan your year and you are not the only adult thinking about taking a rest so if you are really convinced, make it real!

Coping with challenges, taking responsibilities, gaining the confidence from others and creating self esteem are part of the development to become complete. It’s a life-long and rewarding process of evolution.

Being a young person and seeing oneself becoming an army officer probably requires a real vocation. The energy and the potential lay in every young person to become what he or she wants to be. Relatives should make plans towards developing this vocation, support and encouragement.

A gap year is a thrilling experience if it’s spent out of the everyday life environment. It is often the first occasion to face the real world and face oneself. It’s a spark that can trigger passion and dedication towards a career. A year in a military camp sounds different than an average gap year travel across the world or taking leisure time. But it can be much more rewarding to the one feeling this vocation towards the army. It could be a once in a life-time experience for them. So there should be no question.

Despite passion and vocation, one should not forget the realities of life and society. For example, it takes some level of education before leaving school, and no insufficient culture puts a young person at risk for the future. A gap year should not last more than 12 months and should be an encouragement to endeavor successfully towards the end of school.

After graduating High School, Chris and a couple of his friends wanted to do a Gap Year Travel and so they went to some great places around the world for 5 months and did great gap year activities. On their trip, they saw amazing things and met people they will never forget…

The friends started off by visiting and travel Thailand; this is one of the most beautiful cheap places in the world. You can see a lot without spending too much money. The nightlife is also very good in Thailand. But in order to do more cultural stuff, Chris and his friends went to travel Cambodia and visit Vietnam where they saw great statues and buildings and relived the war in Vietnam by wandering through the tunnels, seeing the horrible traps from the Vietnamese people and even shooting with guns.

Afterwards, the gap year trip continued towards Singapore, Australia and especially New Zealand where they did amazing stuff. Chris told me that New Zealand was one of his best experiences and everyone has to go there if you have the opportunity. The only negative part, he said, is that it’s very expensive because you want to do as much as possible: walking in glaciers, visiting crocodile farms, going on boat trips, skydiving over the best place in the world to do so, and this is just a little summary of all the great opportunities of the South Pacific island.

At the Fiji Island, Chris and his friends experienced the slow, relaxing way of life at one of the most magical beaches in the world. They travelled extremely beautiful islands for three weeks and prepared themselves for more mainstream stuff. Because afterwards, they visited Hollywood and other attractions in Los Angeles, went to travel Mexico and they finished their perfect trip in a perfect way by going to Las Vegas and live the Las Vegas life for one night.

Talking about a good way to experience a gap year program, I think Chris and his friends topped it all

As parents what do you think are the reasons why most of the students do not like to spend their year immediately on college? This is because; most of the students are not ready yet in committing with the college life. There are still things that they wanted to do before hopping to college. As parents there are great ways how you can help your kids find their hidden assets. Letting them immerse in the gap year program is a great idea. The program was established to help your kids and teens develop the skills and talents that they try to hide. There are many things that they can learn when they were in the gap year program. Through the program they can develop their personality making them more confident, responsible and independent.

It would be nice to know that your kids are learning from the gap year program they were involved. If you want your kids to be totally independent, you can send them to the international gap year program. Though the program is a bit risky however, parents can assure that your kids are all in good hands. Most of them will be living in a host family where they can be adopted as their host family’s owned kids. The everyday communication with your kids and with their host family will also push them to learn new languages. They will also learn to adopt the culture and tradition of that certain country they were destined.

If you feel worried about your children’s safeness getting travel insurance could help you ease whatever dilemma you feel. This would also assure you that you will know whatever happened to your kids. Being a practical parents have broaden mind, ready to accept the generation that their kids have been mingling. Since gap year program is one of the recent and most famous activities for kids and teenagers nowadays, it would also be nice if you let your kids involve in this kind of activity because the program does not only focusing on traveling alone but kids will also learn a lot from the experience that they would probably had encountered.

For some perhaps gap year is a reason for putting off college; yet for those who just get laid off their work it is the time to take time off before looking for a job.

Whatever reasons one person had for taking gap year, one just hope that in every gap year travel there is a good motive behind it. Some young adults in celebration of earth day took a time off to be with nature.

Some went off to China to help take care of the panda; some went with a green movement and help a research project getting information about sharks. Or perhaps go with the locales in protecting dolphins or penguins in their own territory.

Gap year for earth day is not a new idea it is just becoming more evident and more popular due to the more obvious climate change and the disadvantages it has. People now all over the world are feeling the change of the climate due to some damages in the natural biome set up on the planet earth. Thus, many concern citizens, students, young adults, adults and the middle age group joined forces and effort to help in their own little way to help prevent any damage on earth.

The idea behind such effort is that small effort may be combined to make such great impact to save the earth. Gap year now is for saving earth. Environmentalist is engaging even the students who are in gap year.

Gap year for earth is more fun because of the presence of the element of nature, scientific knowledge combined with travel. Now, the idea of helping earth is an element that added a more colorful facet in your gap year.

Travel for gap year now is more meaningful and with direction.

Yet, as parents, haven’t you ask yourself when is the right time to send off kids for their gap year? Why do they say gap year is totally good for students? Of course, on the technical side, gap year is the best learning environment; it gives the students concrete directional purposeful experiences thus learning is carved on them. A travel for gap year is not an easy decision both for the kids and mother.

Yet, there are times that parents should encourage their kids to take the time off for a gap year journey and maybe get to know jaguars, lions and turtles in a sanctuary either in Bolivia or Costa Rica. South American cultures is as colorful as any culture with lots of festivities but the immersion of a kid to a certain culture different from what he is used to made the experience worthwhile. Maybe it is time to dance and master salsa at the same build on that lost spirit at the midst of a South American country.

A gap year work or volunteer would just do the job and add up a little spice on it like perhaps an English teaching job in the Spanish land or Galapagos Island. Or if the child is a sport enthusiast perhaps spend a month teaching kids to love sports in countries like Argentina, South Africa and Ghana. Another activity is for those who know some martial arts- it is time to share the skills with kids in third world countries. A gap year adventure opportunities are so limitless; you only have to start the step one of your adventure.

When kids do not do well and school and less motivated; perhaps it is time to broaden his horizon and open doors of opportunities for him by sending him off on gap year with a trusted travel agency. Give him a picture of the reality in world wide setting not by telling him abstract ideas but by making him experience it.

They finishes their college degree at an nearly age. In fact, as early as 19 years old; the country only has 6 six years in elementary grade level and 4 years in high school. Another 4 years will be spent for to get a Bachelor’s degree.

Students are expected to directly hop to college life after the high school graduation. Gap year is a foreign thing in the minds of the students. As a matter of fact, when these students go to school a year or two after their high school graduation they felt that they were left behind already. Thinking that while their peers already almost at the end of the college race; they saw themselves as being left behind. So, as much as possible students should immediately start their college life as soon as they can.

However, students taking gap year travel from Europe and USA find themselves in the midst of the Filipino population. One because travel to the Philippines is much cheaper compared to other countries.

Gap year backpackers found the Bataan Island a refreshing new place to tour. The culture here is quiet amazing. It is a beautifully carved place with a culture so untouched by human greed instead it boasts of honesty and industry. Tourist found it amusing to visit the famous self-service store. It is a store which has no sales person so tourist who drops by here just put their payments in a small box designated for that purpose. So you can make your own hot coffee as the weather is colder compared to other Philippine cities. A list of prices is pasted somewhere on the wall.
