Coping with challenges, taking responsibilities, gaining the confidence from others and creating self esteem are part of the development to become complete. It’s a life-long and rewarding process of evolution.

Being a young person and seeing oneself becoming an army officer probably requires a real vocation. The energy and the potential lay in every young person to become what he or she wants to be. Relatives should make plans towards developing this vocation, support and encouragement.

A gap year is a thrilling experience if it’s spent out of the everyday life environment. It is often the first occasion to face the real world and face oneself. It’s a spark that can trigger passion and dedication towards a career. A year in a military camp sounds different than an average gap year travel across the world or taking leisure time. But it can be much more rewarding to the one feeling this vocation towards the army. It could be a once in a life-time experience for them. So there should be no question.

Despite passion and vocation, one should not forget the realities of life and society. For example, it takes some level of education before leaving school, and no insufficient culture puts a young person at risk for the future. A gap year should not last more than 12 months and should be an encouragement to endeavor successfully towards the end of school.

After graduating High School, Chris and a couple of his friends wanted to do a Gap Year Travel and so they went to some great places around the world for 5 months and did great gap year activities. On their trip, they saw amazing things and met people they will never forget…

The friends started off by visiting and travel Thailand; this is one of the most beautiful cheap places in the world. You can see a lot without spending too much money. The nightlife is also very good in Thailand. But in order to do more cultural stuff, Chris and his friends went to travel Cambodia and visit Vietnam where they saw great statues and buildings and relived the war in Vietnam by wandering through the tunnels, seeing the horrible traps from the Vietnamese people and even shooting with guns.

Afterwards, the gap year trip continued towards Singapore, Australia and especially New Zealand where they did amazing stuff. Chris told me that New Zealand was one of his best experiences and everyone has to go there if you have the opportunity. The only negative part, he said, is that it’s very expensive because you want to do as much as possible: walking in glaciers, visiting crocodile farms, going on boat trips, skydiving over the best place in the world to do so, and this is just a little summary of all the great opportunities of the South Pacific island.

At the Fiji Island, Chris and his friends experienced the slow, relaxing way of life at one of the most magical beaches in the world. They travelled extremely beautiful islands for three weeks and prepared themselves for more mainstream stuff. Because afterwards, they visited Hollywood and other attractions in Los Angeles, went to travel Mexico and they finished their perfect trip in a perfect way by going to Las Vegas and live the Las Vegas life for one night.

Talking about a good way to experience a gap year program, I think Chris and his friends topped it all

Alternatively, some go for a gap year for they need the necessary credits that go with it. Admission to certain universities in the USA prefers learners with necessary gap year experience to prove that they are well rounded students. The possibilities of gap year activities are so limitless. Let us take a good look of the possible gap year activities.

Gap year adventure consists of adventure activities that you can participate or engage within your gap year. Rock climbing in various parts of the globe is one such activity. Young adults usually travel in groups and mix photography alongside rock climbing. Collecting of pictures of your adventure activity is becoming popular in the blogosphere. There are others that prefer to do extreme adventure activities during their gap year. Extreme water rafting is one such activity. Biking, Aviation, canoeing and kayaking are also great activities that you can enjoy in your travel.

Gap year destinations such as China, Japan, European countries like Spain, Italy or France, South America countries like Costa Rica and of course the USA are favorite and dreamed destination for most gappers. When you grab for your gap year, destination…destination and destination is all that matters. Most go for the tourist attractions that go with every destination and other go for the physical sceneries and most go for the culture experience if not for the experience of travel itself.

Gap year volunteer is one area in the gap year industry that really gets a big shove last year and for gap year 2010 the key players in the industry also hope that it will be bigger for this year. The year was welcomed with so much innovation thus this year gapper can expect something new and refreshing for their gap year activity.

In fact, the world needs more and more people for a gap year volunteer

for this year.

There must be many things you would want to do in your gap year. You may be thinking of enrolling yourself in a program or even travel. Why not make a profit out of your hobby? If you are into surfing or scuba diving, why not enroll yourself in a program where you can be a qualified instructor for those sports. You can teach those who would want to learn that sports. You can get a profit out of your hobby and makes your gap year more productive than what you have planned for. You get to enjoy your hobby and at the same time you are making a profit out of it and your experience will look good in your CV. You can take lessons, for example if you are into surfing and scuba diving, to become a qualified instructor for these sports.

For surfing, there programs covers about surfing, basics to advanced skills and learning to balance and all. It will also teach you to learn your balance and to ride the bigger waves and so on. For beginners, you will be given a five-day beginner’s course and another five-day surf lessons to polish what you have learned. But if you already have a surfing experience, they will take you to the exclusive spots and the instructors will push you to your limits.

For scuba diving, you will take more lessons; you have to get to be a certified instructor. You have to take the open water dive course, advanced open water course, the emergency first response, and rescue diver course, the dive master course which you can be qualified already to work with diving schools and lastly become a qualified diving instructor. Aside from these sports that you can get licensed from to be a qualified instructor there are also other sports. Your hobby is not just a hobby this time, it also gives profit.

Gap year is such a normal thing in Europe that every family prepares for it every year. Though in the US the idea is still something a parent should get used to. Parents cringe in the idea of packing their kids to gap year- to unknown territories and unheard of places. Though famous universities like Harvard and Princeton encourages every student to take a gap year. For these universities correlate the taking of gap year with finishing a four-year degree.

The universities have a strong belief that students take gap year they have a higher percentage of finishing off college in five years time. The university tries to convince parents that the battle has not been won yet when they get their kids enrolled in college for four years of study is still at stake.

Exposing them to the harsh realities in life outside a very secure family and strong country and let them see the helplessness in fellow human beings can make them love the bounty that they have; thus work very hard to nurture such gifts. Here are some worthy gap year destination to consider.

Kenya- this country in Africa is the best place to go if you wanted to spend your gap year with the less fortunate people. Indeed, finding out that being white and so blessed is not the major requirement to enjoy life. Work with the street children in Kenya and fell in love with little black kids as they smile their way through your hearts.

USA- Maybe you are thinking that can only be done halfway across the globe; then let me correct such misconception. There are also humble jobs for our high school graduates around the USA. One can work as deck hands in fleets in Baltimore. Just screen the place for gap year jobs.

Mongolia- A country in east central Asia. I agree when they say the least visited place. Yet, get involve socially with less fortunate children as they struggle to give life the best shot they ever could.

Spain- the Spanish land is always an enchantment to every gap year students. Get involve with organization that helps Third world countries. This country is so much involve with world social development that organizations abound in this area.

Gap year are not only for students who would like to have a hands-on experience on life. Some middle aged people even would like to take a break on their daily responsibilities and travel and take a leap and experience the rushing of the adrenaline.

Gap year are meant to find spark in life. And bungee jumping just fills in the role perfectly. The first time I step on the edge and try to take a step on an endless pit I was so scared that I told them with scary smile that I just couldn’t do it in my life. But when everybody had already jump and talked how exciting it was, I gather the courage to at last take a leap and Bungee jump for the first time. And now, we are scouring Europe with great locations for a bungee jump. Indeed I got addicted. I tried bungee jumping on these two sites. It was great.

Verzasca Dam- It is in Locarno in Switzerland. This seems to be a lost Italian town. You wouldn’t even know that you are still in Switzerland because of the Italian aura of the place. Just make sure you brought a cup or two of courage as you bungee jump at 700 feet.
Ponsonnas, France – One of Europe’s pride in height. The bungee jumper will really get his lifetime dream come true jumping from 103 metre high bridge.
