It’s actually a term that youngsters and adults are commonly responsive at.

They often perceive gap year as a training ground for their looked-forward career and a booster for their CV resumes. Gap year, for them (which undeniably include you as well) is an opportunity to acquire something about the world before they advance into their full adult careers.

Many reasons can be detailed as to why a young person is inspired to take gap year opportunities. The most common is, basically, to have a chance to come to maturity. We all know how tough and challenging the world of employment is. Everyone is required to have a firm and independent attitude to handle the pressures of work, that’s why gap year intends to become a preparation for a young person for such pressures. The gap year jobs train these young people and give them great ideas and experiences as to how the world of employment really functions.

Gap year also provide opportunities to travel and work abroad. Not everyone is given such occasion, but gap year makes it possible for you to work abroad, even if you really intend to work in your local country. Regardless of the simplicity of the kind of gap year you might want to take, it will be of great contribution to your future career especially when it pertains to the nature of work you are currently trained in.

Traveling in itself is even wholesome in itself because it exposes you to different cultures and civilizations. That alone is one experience nobody could argue. If you’re an American and you happen to avail gap year opportunities in Africa, you will find yourself learning how the people in this continent behave, function, and live according to their status. You will learn great and awesome things from simple experiences, and mind you, it will be of great contribution not just for your career but even for you as a person.

So if you have decided to become an experienced career maker in the future, don’t hesitate to put gap year in your top lists. If you fully understand the great contributions it can give you, you wouldn’t take gap year for granted.

So take gap year if you really find it of great help for you. Picture yourself enjoying the benefits of gap year moments.

Since then, gap year jobs have been the norm for most people from different walks of life. Education primarily, is one of the most gravely affected areas of the economic predicament. What was supposed to be a priority was haphazardly set aside in order to eke out a living, to which, ironically, worsened the concomitant plight of illiteracy among the poorest of nations.

As students inadvertently took time off from school to lessen financial burdens of parents, academic institutions began to see a different perspective in light of the situation. Instead of being affected and alarmed of the receding number of enrolees each year, these academes began to encourage students to take gap year leaves in order to find jobs to help finance their studies. The approach proved to be effective and multi-functional. Not only did it aid the pecuniary aspect of the dilemma, it also greatly helped in the motivation and total well-being of students to be able to take a break off from mental stress. Parents also gladly welcomed the fulcrum of the idea as it eased the burden of worrying for the stunted future of their kids.

Business establishments started creating part-time jobs to cater to the steadily growing number of unemployment globally. Small and medium enterprises (SME’s) were launched to provide affordable commerce and additional employment. These innovations substantiated most of the students needing part-time work/summer jobs during the gap year in order to alleviate their tuition fees and other academic requirements. Small-scale but thriving, these businesses sprouted like mushrooms as local governments worldwide reinforced the proliferation of SME’s by providing financial aid and training for these economic ventures.

As more and more major establishments joined the bandwagon for providing part-time jobs, gap year opportunities for students have steadily provided solutions to the academic problem thus enabling the education system to be more open and considerate of the welfare of the student population by offering gap year as a feasible option. To add to the benefits, students doing part-time work during the gap years are proven to be better prepared, more focused and more mature to tackle real-life jobs after graduating from college.

It is taken typically between high school graduation and starting college, during college years, or when the person is starting a career or grad school.

As what was mentioned a while ago, gap year jobs can be in a form of volunteering, service, or employment. There are lots of gap year concepts we can itemize since this is a very large topic to discuss; but this time, we will be undertaking the concept of gap year volunteering.

Written by Synapse India, volunteering is an unmatchable opportunity for doing something constructive, and you can have a great time enjoying doing all good. Besides, this is also the best time to show that you can maximize working without necessarily minding any salary or wage. When you also avail gap year volunteering, you will get to meet people you don’t really get to meet everyday. Eventually, you’d be exposed to see new and astounding countries and cultures.

One of the remarkable features of gap year volunteering is the experiences you will surely ponder for the rest of your life. Even if it does not necessarily have salary since you will only be volunteering, it is the best gap year that prepares you to your prospected career.

Gap year volunteering requires a carefully planned activity. As much as possible, gap year takers should take a program that they really enjoyed doing. With this reason, volunteering will not be too heavy for you to bear because you will basically be taking pleasure in doing it.

Now, how are you going to choose this particular gap year concept? Well, there are agencies that gladly assist students with this particular need. In fact, they will also help you choose the right volunteering program depending on your interests.

So what are you waiting for? If you really value the experiences you will be availing rather than the financial remuneration, gap year volunteering is the best gap year option for you. Mind you, it’s the best opportunity you can give to yourself for you to become a better career person someday.

Laws are created to serve and protect the people of a certain country. The law has been always straightforward and less kind but —the law can also be humorous and weird.

Many national laws are very weird in nature. They often sound intriguing to many gap year travel enthusiasts. Even the normal and less adventurous person can be confused on how these weird laws came to existence. Let’s take a look at the weirdest laws ever created on earth.

Denmark: Making a horse look inferior or agitated by overtaking is seriously a not a good thing to practice. If the horse pulling a carriage gets agitated, the car must pull over.

Germany: A pillow is considered as a “passive weapon”. No wonder there are a lot of movie scenes where the culprit covers the face of the victim in bed.

Greece: Driving while forgetting to take a bath is a common mistake. Drivers must be in presentable dress before hitting the road.

Israel: It is illegal to pick one’s nose during Sabbath Day.

Japan: Purple is considered to be the color of royalty but in Japan, it is illegal to wear purple except when one is mourning.

England: It’s illegal for a lady to eat chocolates on a pubic travel.

India: It’s illegal to maim an animal worth more than 10 Rupees.

Mexico: Serenading a woman under balcony must not take more than one hour.

Schaumburg, Illinois: Flying kites at any time of the day is strictly prohibited.

Scotland: Being drunk while in possession of a cow may give you some jail time.

Arizona: First cousins cannot be married unless they are over sixty-five, however, they can still have children.

Finland: Disobeying traffic signs will not give you tickets, however, it can result to flat tires. Police won’t be wasting too much paper though.

Iceland: The government recognizes the right to practice any medicine, provided, that quack doctors should display their titles on.

France: Calling a “pig” Napoleon is a disgrace to the society. Also, dolls with alien faces are not spared, they should look like humans.

Liverpool, United Kingdom: It’s illegal for a woman to be topless in public, unless, she’s employed in a fish shop.

Russia: Don’t ever try to drive your car without cleaning it—it’s a crime.

Qatar: If an unmarried woman is found to be pregnant, she is ban from all the country’s hospitals and the only way out is to get medication from foreign countries.

These laws are totally freaky when we think of it. But we should be respecting every law in a certain country especially when were on a gap year travel. But the biggest outlaw a gap year traveler can possibly make is forgetting to apply for a gap year insurance.

Well to be a little mean, students will missed out university placement and their first day of college with cool friends. That isn’t cool. They will also be spending their dimes to breaking of their piggy banks to hitch into some sea sickness along the way—vomiting isn’t cool, right?

Plus they will get far with their families to meet some people on a foreign land. They will be working and working, added some volunteering and helping people who they don’t know. It’s a year of independence and a time of being lonely; it’s some months of dealing with culture shock and weirdness along the way. Who wants to be in a gap year? If one can get all these holiday packages with a one year contract, then whoever invented the gap year program; his name should be forbidden to be pronounced.

All of the above is true—but what’s more than true is that the gap year travel will change your life. Talking about one’s life, this is commonly involved with going to campus, sit, and study, listen to the teacher, go home and sleep. Cool? Nope, you are entitled to have your life and take all the consequences. Why not suffer all those uneven holiday package above, take it as a challenge, and fly your way to Canada or Nepal.

So, what can you get from a gap year travel which your typical college day can’t give? Here’s what.

The freedom to see the world in personal—not on a globe, on your typical history subject.

The right to no uniform for a year. We know you want to express, and we emphasize it “express”

You will receive life’s personalized training on how to save. No theory involved.

The freedom to transfer from seat to seat.

You are obliged to work, not very friendly to hear—but you should if you want something to fill the table.

The ultimate license to say hi to everyone. You’re a new person and no one has the guts to make fun of you.

Wait, don’t be too exited, this is just tip of the iceberg. You will also be giving a hand to a lot of people—in a literal and metaphorical way. You can do whatever you want in life. Explore the deep jungles, ski on the top of Everest or bungee on the bridge of Africa—definitely consent free. Now, have you figured out which one would you like to do? Go to college or have a year of goodtime? The tip, do whatever your heart desires as long as you have the resources.

We all have dreams of exploring the whole globe in just an hour when we were kids. Of course, it’s impossible to travel around the world as fast as that. But did you know the first person to travel around the world in just 72 days was Nellie Bly—a notable female journalist, and a charity worker at the same time.

Nellie’s career rose after her report was published a book form as “Ten Days in a Mad-House” wherein she exposed many of the maltreatments experience by women in the lunatic asylum of Blackwell’s Island.. Years after, the New York World, the famous magazine that time—determined that a male reporter will be sent around the world to emulate the fictional Phileas Fogg’s Trip around the World in 80 Days.

Upon hearing this, Bly become furious and she strongly suggested to her editor that she take the trip or else she would get another newspaper to send her and she would travel the world faster than the man they chose to send. The New York World capitulated and on November 14, 1889, she boarded the Augusta Victoria—a Hamburg America Line streamer.

Nellie Bly the women behind “Elizabeth Jane Cochran” was sponsored by her own news company and she brought along £200 in a bag traditionally tied on her neck. Nellie began her 24,899 mile journey in an opposite direction with Phileas Fogg’s travel direction. She brought with her a sturdy coat, several pairs of underwear, and a small bag which carries her toilet essentials. The trip was definitely like some gap year travel bringing only those she need most.

In order to catch the world’s interest, the New York World organized the “Nellie Bly Guessing Match” wherein readers can estimate the arrival time to second, of Nellie Bly. Winners will win a gap year Europe along with some trip allowance (money) to spend.

Bly traveled the world using streamliners and rail road systems which give rise to some setbacks especially in the Asian leg of her race. On these stops, she managed to visit a leper colony in China and even brought a monkey in Singapore.

The Pacific weather wasn’t so good which resulted a two days behind arrival in San Francisco riding the White Star Liner “Oceanic” (January 21). It could be later for Nellie to arrive back in New York but the World News owner chartered a private train for her and she arrived back in New Jersey on January 25, 1980 at exactly 3:52 p.m.

In seventy-two days, six hours, eleven minutes and fourteen seconds upon arrival in New York, Bly set the record for the first person to travel around the globe in 72 days.
That was tough for a journalist like Bly, we hope that this inspired us all to make a difference, go out there, and travel the world.

According to David Wray—the deputy chief executive of the National Apprenticeships Service that volunteering abroad or at home can help the gap year participants to learn new skills and broaden their cultural experiences. Engaging in the gap year program is one way of stepping towards success. Why? It is because the program helps each of the gappers to see strategies on how to have a brighter future. So instead of sipping beers and hanging out with friends most of your time why not travel abroad and try to join that gap year program? Aside from the fact that you will really enjoy the program you will also gain a lot of benefits from it.

Volunteering abroad through the gap year program would help volunteer to enhance the skills that they have and at the same time learn new things, which they can include in their CV.

What volunteers can include in their CV are interpersonal skills, public speaking, teamwork, organizational skills and confidence. If you want to be one of those gappers abroad you can look for it over the internet, magazines or newspapers for more information. Countries like Kenya, Costa Rica, Honduras and Vietnam are some of the best countries to visit for the gap year program. Most of the programs that you can participate here include conservation projects, orphanages and more. Learning new languages would also give the gar year volunteers to easily learn the culture and ways of life of that specific country.

For volunteers who would want to easily learn their speaking languages, you can develop it through using the language when you were teaching. If you keep this a daily habit while you were abroad for the gap year programs it would be easy for you to adopt the cultures and ways of life of that specific country. The best thing about engaging in the gap year program since you will not only helping others but they will also helping you through the experiences you had experienced which could have big impact to you especially when you were looking for a job abroad.
