Do you think she would still be wishing the same dream ten years later?

Taking medical courses is not a very easy task. Remember you have to take a preparatory course before proceeding to medicine. It takes time, money, and even great intelligence to become a doctor that someone is wishing to be. Well, if you personally are a person who has these provisions along with a decisive attitude, then be a medical student! It’s a dream worth taking for.

But, before ensuing to the dream of becoming a doctor, why not take such gap year opportunities and become a medical volunteer first? Such experience will be so exciting. The experience you will have will not fathom the money you spend for nonsense things.

When you take gap year projects like this, you will be advised and provided with knowledge and wisdom on how the world of medicine really rotates.

Gap year medical school can provide experiences that you might otherwise not have had. Here, you would meet with a Pre-Health advisor to see how competitive you are for medical school. Such consultations will evaluate how competitive you are for medical school. Likewise, such gap year will also help you decide what activities would be the highest yield in helping you become a more viable applicant.

When a student is really interested in taking gap year medical school, she should have a marginal GPA that is suitable for that gap year to strengthen her academic record. This is just more than just taking time off to travel abroad and just participate in a volunteer work. And if you personally have no practical experiences of becoming a medical student, taking this gap year makes it possible for you to be exposed to such experience.

Becoming a doctor takes one step at a time, and every step is really an action that requires perseverance, patience, intelligence, and even personal finances when you really want to pursue the dream of becoming a doctor. Keep chasing it. In the end, all your endeavors will count to something and you will soon become the doctor that you’ve always wanted to be—a doctor that saves and improves lives.

The career path is not some walk in the park but totally requires much dedication. Heavy hours of classes and self-study are often spent by medical students in order to cope up with hammering examinations and laboratory works.

More often, people perceive being a doctor as a technical work. They will have to memorize certain medications for each ailment, master the techniques of effective surgery, and be experts in assisting mothers in giving birth. All of these procedures and activities can be tagged as technical, however, there is a deeper part of being a doctor. Deeper than the white robe and the clean office.

Doctors strive to save lives and with that cause, it’s very clear that they should be humane enough to feel the sufferings of their patients. It also mean that they will be considering the side of the patient and it’s family before making any crucial decisions. It isn’t that easy to be a doctor because you will need to understand the society as a whole in order to deliver the best care for your patients.

A gap year travel can help medical students to understand more of the global environment and come up with global solutions on particular modern-day health problems. Research is part of being a medical student – that’s why taking a gap year after graduation or during research semesters will definitely help a medical student in discovering new knowledge internationally.

A gap year travel Europe or to the third world countries will provide enough opportunities to explore civilization outside their comfort zone. People live a different life in other countries and cultures vary from place to place. It’s definitely one good time to study and reflect on a different plane of being human.

Plus, volunteering takes every medical student to poor communities which they can record data and practice saving lives as well. They can also do gap year teaching about being hygienic and curing simple ailments. They can also teach English language to striving communities, offer everyday products, and live together with the family for the mean time.

Medical students can do so many things while traveling. The gap year experience will also loosen all the knots in the head and allow medical students to enjoy life without worrying much on tomorrow’s examination.

It might not be easy being a medical student but the gift of saving lives and seeing people stand up after a storm of ailments is priceless. Plus, the gap year experience adds up to the excitement of becoming a doctor. Learning new culture, interacting with people, and serving poor communities are the main ingredients of crafting a passionate and loving doctor.

The five-year undergraduate course will need a lot of focus and hard work from a student. The student must shy away from possible distractions such as excessive nigh life and other daytime activities. Being a medical student is like drinking water on a fire hydrant. At first— it would look silly but as time goes by, one understands that such volume of information is needed for a medical student to succeed.

Becoming a doctor means— facing a lot challenges and dissecting several cadavers. Medical students must get familiar with the human anatomy— theoretically and in person. Fear of blood alone is a great challenge for aspiring doctors. It could be less considered as a problem because in due time; students will get used to the medical environment and laboratory activities.

But that’s not all; medical students must also understand the society as a whole. They will be working a lot with people—thus studying human interactions is part of the whole curriculum. Man is a complex creation and even though doctors are told to keep away their emotions when conducting operations, they are also obliged to respect the decisions of the patients and their family.

There was a past debate regarding medical schools admission. One medical school questioned the efficiency of pure science approach in most examinations and suggested that there should be a concentration of arts and humanity subjects for medical education. The debate didn’t have that far but it’s a proof that medicine is not pure science and must also include being sensitive to the feelings of the patients.

A student gap year for medical students will give an idea of how civilizations work and operate in the society. In this scenario, medical students will be able to reflect and gather real life information which they will find useful through out their career. Volunteering programs are much appreciated – especially for future doctors. There is a big need of health workers in poor countries such as Western Africa.

Volunteering work has touched the lives of the beneficiary and benefactor. Sick children are often stripped with the freedom to enjoy their lives and go to school. What if, someone will come and help, educate, and care for them? – And that someone is as skilled as you are in the field of healthcare. Wouldn’t it be the greatest gift for them? Being a doctor means saving lives and providing service to those in badly need.

There is so much more a medical student can learn from humanity. Young and adult gap year travel provides its tenants with the experience and wisdom — extracted from real human encounters. A one year trip would not be enough to dig all the treasures and gift of human interaction.

But the decision to take on a medical career should be a well-though one. This should not e done on a hastily manner. I for one thought that I was carved for the medical career yet I discovered half way through the journey that that path is not meant for me.

This article is for those who are contemplating on taking on a medical career. For those who would want to pursue the noble profession of healing. Most if not all dropped out of med school half way through their course. For they found the whole career not to their liking and the sad thing is they already spent thousands of dollars just to be there.

So pre-med gap year gives the students a glimpse of the medical career lifestyle and it is the a critical experience for it will be the foundation for choosing or not choosing a medical career. You have the choice to be a foreign exchange students or you wil have to take a gap year in your local hospital. You weigh the advantages and disadvantages.

If your view your medical career life as tame then perhaps you cross borders and see what the medical life is abroad. You have the choice to join the hundred volunteers in the developing countries and get a chance of a dip in different level of your medical career. Or you may visit the first world countries and see what is in store for you there.

Most pre-med students though would grab a chance for a gap year in the developing countries for they would have a hands on experience in helping the patients and a glimpse of the medical situation in thee countries. Doctors would be just glad to have a helping hand with the patients. Of course you are not expected to treat patients or give prescriptions.

International education really helps students on their decision making.
