Well Lattitude Global Volunteer conducted a survey and asked over 2000 people aged 15 to 24 years old why they consider volunteering overseas during a gap year. According to the study, many of those young people think that volunteering is the best way to experience a different culture combined with learning new skills.

The company provides volunteering opportunities in 20 different countries from Australia to Canada and Malawi. The volunteers become completely integrated in a culture by living and working with them and becoming an important part of that community.

Other popular reasons to volunteer are that 14% thinks that volunteering during a gap year is a good work experience, another 14% wanted to give something back. Furthermore, 11% wanted to become more independent during the gap year, 10% wanted to improve their CV, 9% wanted to learn something about themselves and 8% thought of the gap year as a way to help them decide upon decisions they had to make concerning their career.

Would you consider to work abroad and what are your reasons? Please let me know.

A program, by the United Nations that aims to play a part in development in a way of volunteerism and peace in the whole world through a gap year volunteer!

Gap year through volunteering is a powerful tool of encouraging people worldwide in dealing with development changes that in a way can change the nature and speed of development. The act of volunteerism does not only benefits the individual volunteer but also the society through enforcing solidarity, reciprocity and trust among race and citizens and by intentionally making opportunities and chances for participation and can also be referred to as gap year expeditions.

UNV play a part to the development of peace by supporting for the credit of the working volunteers and also to encourage and mix volunteerism in every program and project made by the working partners world wide. One goal also of the UNV is to make sure that the volunteer group is composed of as many diverse volunteers coming worldwide for the volunteer project.

This time gap year overseas through UNV is made more meaningful and universal as it acknowledges the values that sustain the group such as engagement, solidarity, commitment and free will.

UNV is active, functioning and in full force in 140 countries worldwide and the center is in Bonn, Germany. So your choices for gap year destinations may vary from Argentina to Zimbabwe.

A few favorite destinations are Africa, Philippines, Thailand, China, Mexico and India. Africa can give the volunteers a taste of African safari while volunteering and that is for free; the Philippines will bask the volunteer with sunshine and a free access to soft sandy beaches loved by Haring Araw while China can give a taste of colorful culture and a glimpse of the magnificent Great Wall of China this time you are seeing the structure in person rather than in space.
