Seeing the actuality of the gap year opportunities benefited by students can result exceptional reward after the experiences. More often than not, one contributing factor why students take a gap year is because they wish for a break from the high pressure in schools leaving these learners drained, the reason of pushing them to yearn for refreshment.

According to a study, the gap year concept may not be that popular to many in the United States, and if verity is to ascertain, there is no reliable data of gap year activities available in this nation, but the real status of gap year in the United States is therefore actually founded as a tradition in some place there.

However, you can find numerous college admission officers and guidance counselors swelling on their interest on gap year because they have seen apparently that large amount of ‘gappers’ have pursued personal enrichment by traveling and chasing career and educational programs. And since these ‘gappers’ rejoin school as they came back, they have indeed enhanced concentration, motivation, as well as learning the prime of life that actually help them succeed in their college.

To meet insightful experience during your gap year, gap year jobs can channel you to earn not a fortune might be, but a purposeful rewards that will last for a lifetime!

One of the most rewarding gap year jobs is to work with the animals.

If you love taking care of the animals, you can work with them by choosing the projects in wildlife conservation. Any sort of student with an age ranging from 18 and above is probably the qualification searched by programs catering this.

This is becoming progressively more a trendy way to spend your break working with extraordinary animals. You can choose many different options where offered in various parts of the world such as Africa, India, South America, and more.

The kind of work actually involves depends upon the organization or company concerned. Typically, what you can be certain of is that you will be getting close to the natural habitat of the animals in a game reserve or in working reserve. Trailing elephants or any other involved species observing their eating patterns or to check their migrating period can be hard work but it is also enormously rewarding!

The numbers might not be certain but there is an observable increase in gap year interest with regards to high school students.

The independent travel which become famous in European countries is now taking American students by storm. Despite the recession and the urge to quickly earn degrees, gap year programs – the number of participants have grown drastically.

Gap year opportunities varies from organization, university, and country. There are gap year adventures offered by reputable foreign universities. Many of these international institutions offer summer language study. The opportunity is similar to exchange student programs except that it focuses more on having fun and taking the year out.

It might sound less practical to defer the year for a holiday out – the advantages have been observed to outweigh the disadvantages when choosing to go for a gap year away for the year. Take for instance, many universities have studied the benefits of the travel and decided to give corresponding deferments for aspiring gappers.

Measuring the Growth of Gap Year Interest Over the Years

There have been no accurate data on the increase of gap year interest for years now. it’s because the US Department of Education draws no distinction between students who take on a gap year and those who simply wait for a year or two – before going to college. At least for now, there have been an anecdotal evidence suggesting that gap year learning have been growing in popularity.

Prestigious schools like Harvard have been encouraging their admitted students to at least take on a gap year, work abroad, or participate with international social work. Washington University have offered deferrals for those students who are admitted but aren’t ready to attend college. The university reported that they are willing to accept dozens of request provided that the student has something on purpose for the gap year.

There have been programs offered by youth service corps such as City Year which supports at-risk children over 20 cities in the United States. These workers are paid to support their cost of living and receives a $5,500 scholarship program when they go back to school. Most of their workers are youth which have deferred college for a year or two.

The gap year interest will be expected to grow for years to come – when parents and universities observed the benefits of participating in such program. For students who are yearning to work abroad and those who want to revitalize their senses, gap year jobs, volunteering, language learning, study abroad are just few of the options they can choose from. the gap year market is also an element for the increased interest with independent travel – along with the rise of gap year guides, books, and websites.

The TV series is called “My family’s crazy gap year” and in this show families their shelves are paying for their expenses and bills for their travels.

Family’s itineraries for their gap year travel have been really different as well as their budgets were different too but all them have one thing in common: Parents wanted their children to see the world is quite different from the place they live and many people in the world cannot enjoy the accommodations and luxuries that can be found in Britain.

First episode is about The Wilmotts. This is a family with 3 kids, Cyrus (12), Emile (nine) and Eliane (six) that have always lived in a privileged bubble. However, mum wanted their kids spending a gap year learning about places and people untouched by the modern world so they have traveled to Himalaya and Papuan rain forest and even they have met Dalai Lama.

Second episode tell us how Jason Lawerence has taken his wife and two young children in a gap year program that was a trip sailing around the world. They sailed form England to Australia across the world’s largest oceans and feeling isolated for months.

Next episodes will be broadcast next weeks and producers are working in second season for next year.

Thompson said “I just thought it was really good timing between those two schools to have a bit of a break”.

However, educational authorities have urged the actress to reconsider her plans to take her daughter Gaia in a gap year travel because the girl “might see the world and have a fantastic experience, but she’ll miss an awful lot in a year and will be way behind her peers. A child might not ever properly catch up after a break that long” said Margaret Morrissey a spokeswoman for education campaign group Parents Outloud.
Now, the 51 year-old actress and Greg Wise, her husband have to convince authorities in Camdem Council that their child will receive a proper education if Gaia is finally removed from school during a whole year. Speaking to American television channel CNN, Emma Thompson said: “Gaia finishes next year, but I’m going to give her a break from education and show her the world a bit and take a break myself” and added her reasons to plan a gap year with her daughter “I just thought it was really good timing between those two schools to have a bit of a break.”

This gap year program will start next year, when Thomson , her husband and their daughter will take an extended vacation. Their first destination in their worldwide travel could be India, a country the actress is willing to visit.

With all the small countries, easy passage between the countries and cultural differences for each country, Europe is the ideal place to see as much as possible in a short time.

You can discover the capital of love in France, take a look at the rich history of Italy and enjoy the sol y playa in Spain for starter. But there is much more. Have you ever considered of discovering the nice country of Portugal or going to the small villages in the Alps.

Europe not a popular gap year destination but I do think it is worth considering. In the north, you can find the most beautiful nature you will see in your life. Scandinavia is filled with pretty things. The only problem here is that it is the most expensive part of Europe. In central Europe, you will find these nice little villages with very kind people. A big advantage is that almost everyone in the north and central parts of Europe speaks English. Finally in the south, you will get to enjoy the nightlife, sun, beaches and relaxing way they live.

This part of the world gives you a taste of everything within a relatively small area. So please reconsider going on a gap year to Europe.

After graduating High School, Chris and a couple of his friends wanted to do a Gap Year Travel and so they went to some great places around the world for 5 months and did great gap year activities. On their trip, they saw amazing things and met people they will never forget…

The friends started off by visiting and travel Thailand; this is one of the most beautiful cheap places in the world. You can see a lot without spending too much money. The nightlife is also very good in Thailand. But in order to do more cultural stuff, Chris and his friends went to travel Cambodia and visit Vietnam where they saw great statues and buildings and relived the war in Vietnam by wandering through the tunnels, seeing the horrible traps from the Vietnamese people and even shooting with guns.

Afterwards, the gap year trip continued towards Singapore, Australia and especially New Zealand where they did amazing stuff. Chris told me that New Zealand was one of his best experiences and everyone has to go there if you have the opportunity. The only negative part, he said, is that it’s very expensive because you want to do as much as possible: walking in glaciers, visiting crocodile farms, going on boat trips, skydiving over the best place in the world to do so, and this is just a little summary of all the great opportunities of the South Pacific island.

At the Fiji Island, Chris and his friends experienced the slow, relaxing way of life at one of the most magical beaches in the world. They travelled extremely beautiful islands for three weeks and prepared themselves for more mainstream stuff. Because afterwards, they visited Hollywood and other attractions in Los Angeles, went to travel Mexico and they finished their perfect trip in a perfect way by going to Las Vegas and live the Las Vegas life for one night.

Talking about a good way to experience a gap year program, I think Chris and his friends topped it all

Well Lattitude Global Volunteer conducted a survey and asked over 2000 people aged 15 to 24 years old why they consider volunteering overseas during a gap year. According to the study, many of those young people think that volunteering is the best way to experience a different culture combined with learning new skills.

The company provides volunteering opportunities in 20 different countries from Australia to Canada and Malawi. The volunteers become completely integrated in a culture by living and working with them and becoming an important part of that community.

Other popular reasons to volunteer are that 14% thinks that volunteering during a gap year is a good work experience, another 14% wanted to give something back. Furthermore, 11% wanted to become more independent during the gap year, 10% wanted to improve their CV, 9% wanted to learn something about themselves and 8% thought of the gap year as a way to help them decide upon decisions they had to make concerning their career.

Would you consider to work abroad and what are your reasons? Please let me know.

But, there is no need for you to feel worried because there are options for you to choose that would allow you to have this break. If you do not want to stop your studies while taking the gap year, you could take the course work while taking the program. The gap year program is a combination of fun, excitement and self-fulfilling emotion.

In the gap year program, the common type of the program is both the academic and travel which involve language study. In this type of program you could teach English language or TESL. This kind of program requires preparation and your certification is important. However, if you have credentials that you can show you can be connected to some of the gap year agencies to the countries like China, Korea and others where the TESL program is highly in demand. The advantage of teaching English language in non-English speaking countries would offer you credentials that you can use during the time that you will look for a better job.

If you are an English speaking and assigned to venture your gap year travel in countries where the latter language is not spoken, you can take a language course. Perhaps you were going to venture your gap year in Spain; you could take a course specializing in Spanish language. Most of the universities in Spain are offering language course for foreign students. Learning the other language aside from your native tongue while taking the gap year would give you the chance to know better the country’s culture and tradition. If you think that the gap year program could give big impact to your life, take this opportunity and make the most of it.

We may not notice it much in our daily routine of life, but as you stop and think of it over again you will realize that it’s true. Every human being was created unique; we have different ways how to live life through our own unique way. As we continue the life that we used to be sometimes we feel something is lucking within us. And we are looking for something that could fulfill what we really want in life. These factors are mostly felt by the students who were not yet graduated from college.

High school graduating students are mostly confused what to do after graduation. Some of them didn’t pursue college yet because they were thinking that the course that they would get would not suit their abilities. That is why instead of pursuing college most of the fresh high school graduate students prefer to join the gap year travel program. Through this program most of the students are fulfilled and are ready to pursue the life that they think could give them the benefits while some pursued college after the gap year.

Indulging in the gap year program is never easy the students will be immersing to the different countries with different culture. They will be away from their parents, friends or love ones for months or more. From that time they will be staying in their host family while abroad. They will act as their own child and the students will act back as their child. It is no easy because there will be a lot of things that the student should adjust. But most of the students doing the gap year program are the Europeans however, recently the American students are now started to adopt the program for the purpose of exploring what’s beyond their expectation after graduating from high school. For assurance, before going to a gap year program you should have to get gap insurance in case of emergencies.
