Gap Year in Amsterdam; the Architecture behind the Diary

Amsterdam; the Home of Anne Franks’ Diary

Anne Franks’ Diary is a very famous reading material that I came to know why when I read parts and summaries of it two years ago. The diary and musings of a 13 year old was made famous for its sincerity and the mere love and passion of the little girl who wanted to survive the Holocaust.

I never wanted to visit any place other than Amsterdam, Netherlands. I wanted to set my foot on the very wood, place that Ann Frank did decades ago. I wanted to feel just a second of the moment how it feels to be their though decades had past since 1942. I wanted to see the architecture behind the story.

I also wanted to visit Netherlands and see the architecture left behind by the great Holocaust. I wanted to do my gap year in this very land- Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Amsterdam as a city is full of landmarks, historical places and architecture that you can gloat over either you are tourist passing by, a gap year student, mother, professional or a globe trotter.

Let us take a look at the tourist destination you can visit while doing a gap year in the country.

Oude Kerk is a Gothic-Renaissance kind of church with an octagon style bell tower.

Dam Square located at the center of Amsterdam. This place is a witness of the unfolding of many historical human dramas. Though not as much as astounding as other architecture sights in Amsterdam; it is still worth the visit for it’s is a reception of many historical events like a home for Napoleon and his army in 1808s city take over.

The Venice of the North” is the Amsterdam’s Canal. Several large canals in Amsterdam gained such title from the tourist. And without a ride in the boat in Amsterdam Canal means an incomplete itinerary.
