Vatican City, Gap Year Destination

What a better place to seek something good in a Gap Year, no other than in the Holy See! Vatican is so compact with History, literature and architecture than other cities in the world combined. The heart of Catholicism; a religion profess by over a billion member worldwide.

A city located within Rome and separated or isolated from the city by a wall. It composed of the St. Peter’s Square, St. Peter’s Church, the Vatican Gardens and the Vatican. The Vatican Palace is the home of the pope which consists of so many major gifts, arts and important pictures. But the Sistine Chapel, Stanze and the Vatican Museum are the famous of all.

Standing with pride and beauty is the Vatican Museum with the Sistine Chapel which has impressive frescoes made by the renowned Michelangelo (a renaissance artist) and the contributions of Raphael (his contemporary). Raphael’s depictions of cherubim are a must see. A massive library, great collections of ancient Rome and Greek sculpture, Etruscan and Egyptian collections plus a museum composed of Modern Religious Masterpiece. The Vatican Palace is open for public; in fact greater part of the palace can be accessed except for a small private portion for the papal court.

You can also get a glimpse in other properties beside within the Vatican City such as Patriarchal Basilicas and Castel Gandolfo located in the Italian soil.

The Vatican City has never also failed to amaze me in terms of its night glow- the night lights! Seeing the place lit up at night at gazing at it at Castel San’t ‘Angelo made me feel like I am watching a palace made from heaven. Yellow bright lights illuminating a very intricately made palace.

Vatican City with its rich ambiance is very conducive to spend on for a gap year. Besides the very heart-touching beauty of the place, it is a popular destination of travelers both Christian and non-Christian for its world-known arts that wrap the place.
