As I was packing my bag, I have this odd feeling that I am going to a very strange country. Strange for it seems a few decades ago when this country is not for tourist, gappers or anybody not of their own race. And now, a gap year volunteer work is taking me there. yes, now it is possible to transverse Vietnam’s beautiful scenery, culture and sightseeing destination.
Vietnam’s Museum is best described and charted in Ho Chi Minh City. The museum somehow has acquired of sample arts of different periods. A collection of arts and porcelain from different historical periods. If you have time after your gap year work overseas you can visit Vietnam’s museums.
Another great activity or event that you should get in touch with in Vietnam is the night market. The night market has a characteristic of its own- unique, simple, lively and fun. Immense varieties of goods are on offer like hair clips, hats, footwear, clothes, watches and many more goodies. This is one gap year expeditions. Vietnam’s food stalls are the best to taste the country’s gastronomical delights.
After a year in Vietnam it made me appreciate more the country that I am staying and having my gap year volunteer work. One very unique culture is the haggling of prices with vendors. At first I feel so uncomfortable and I do not haggle over anything. Yet, my Vietnamese colleagues taught me how to haggle on prices. I did it for experience’s sake and I do not even have the heart to do it every time I buy something. <
I was so surprise of the change of weather per region I visit. At first we are experiencing a very hot climate then all of a sudden as we cross local borders the weather and temperature suddenly changes.
