Is Gap Year Necessary?
January 23rd, 2009 Posted in Gap Year DestinationFor some it seems a waste of time. Philippine Education does not encourage gap year in fact it was seen as a waste of time. Children in the Philippines go right away to college or high school with out gap year.
For some developed countries taking a gap year travel is necessary. It is deemed necessary for some to make the learning come alive. In the news, 12 year old boy, Gerald Roseman will take its gap year right after he finishes the school year. He was supported by his father. The young Roseman finished school early than his peers. So, instead of jumping right off to start high school; he will wait for another year to be of the same age with his peers the next school year.
His father sees it necessary for his young boy to tour and take a gap year. He wanted his son to see the world to make the learning come alive. He wanted to visit Europe capital cities and industrial countries like Spain, Rome and Italy to name a few.
Some parents send their children to countries like China, Philippines, and to African countries to see the difference of living and culture. For their children to appreciate what they have now and they were not disappointed.
Spain is best visited for gap year travel to visit its world famous museums and Historical building. Spain is one very powerful and influential country as told by history. It was very enlightening then to see country that has one way or the other became part of their History. In fact, some affluent students from countries like Philippines, Mexico, Cuba, Haiti, Honduras and Colombia to name just a few, go to visit the Spanish country for the reason that Spain is a main part of their history.
Experiential learning is still the best kind of learning. Gap year travel is one example of experiential learning.
